SENECA POLYTECHNIC HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Seneca Polytechnic is fulfilling their vision to create a multi-million dollar complex for health and wellness on their campus. In partnership with DIALOG, Two Row Architect has created a design infused with Indigenous values, and centering inclusion and sustainability.

Drawing inspiration from the medicine wheel and the drum circle, the layout is intended to symbolize balance, equality, wholeness and connection. The buildings radiate outward from a central drum courtyard containing a firepit, and will house counselling services, recreation and varsity sports facilities, and a new home for the Seneca Student Federation. This new facility will link students and faculty from different walks of life, becoming the heartbeat of campus.

Surrounding the complex, the landscape is designed to engage with the seasons and non-human relatives, and immerse students in the rhythms of the natural world. Medicinal plantings, rainwater harvesting, solar energy collection, green roofing and more are planned for the facility.
