GRAND RIVER EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING

Different sectors have been brought together under one roof in this innovative, multi-purpose community facility designed as a one-stop resource for adult training and skills development. Accommodated sectors include: educational, industrial, retail, office function, and service delivery. The design provides for a unique environment because mainstream zoning conventions typically prohibit this mix of occupancies. The over-riding design concept is based upon a group of converging longhouses. Through this vehicle, homage is paid to a traditional longhouse village where all types of activities would have co-existed. These barrel-vaulted steel structures and linkages has become a focal point for community gathering and social functions.
