OCAD University is embarking on a project to expand and revitalize some of their main buildings on McCaul Street in Downtown Toronto. The ambitious $60 million project will be led by Morphosis and Teeple Architects, with Two Row Architect as the Indigenous Architect focused on the planned Indigenous Visual Culture and Student Centre.
The nine-storey design will help reorient the campus towards a modern, healthy, accessible environment that also reflects and celebrates the 140-year history of the institution. Cutting edge technology will be integrated throughout the facility, and a renewed focus on social interaction will inform the 55,000 sf of new construction and 95,000 sf of renovation and repurposing. The design team is looking to not only reimagine the learning spaces of OCAD U but also to embed Indigeneity within all stages of the project.
