Feasibility Study Complete
The Northern Thunder–Aboriginal Performing Arts Centre Brantford, Ontario In completion of this feasibility study, the Northern Thunder Aboriginal Performing Arts Centre represents a new, state of the art space to support Aboriginal art sand expression. The centerpiece of the new facility features a 500 seat main theatre, 150 capacity workshop/multi-purpose room, several artist studios, recording studio, lighting studio and administrative offices. The facility also features studio apartments for artists in residence and an outdoor amphitheater, where one auditorium incorporates a roll-away wall that transforms into a stage to the outdoors.
The vision was to offer a complete cultural experience–theatre, musical, showcases, concerts, plus the ability to host film screenings, educational/rehearsal space, supported by the existing museum, gift shop and the WoodlandCultural Centre facilities.
The greatest outcome of building TNT is to foster the development of our Aboriginal artists. The surrounding tourism sector is jointly impacted due to the facility filling a gap in the performing arts market by offering and supporting a full schedule of Aboriginal programs
