KAYANASE LONGHOUSE

 Six Nations, Ontario

$200,000 CAD

2018

Kayanase, on the Grand River is a greenhouse that provided indigenous plants to developments around the Six Nations area. The facility was looking to expand by developing a garden and reconstructing an authentic Haudenasaunee Long House and palisade. An archeological investigation turned up several items of interest including an arrowhead that was determined to be over 10,000 years old. Revisions to the master plan were made to not disturb other areas of interest and construction began not he Long House and Palisade. The garden is under redesign and will begin construction early 2017.
